What is Reiki?
Reiki comes from the Japanese Kanji for “Rei” Universal life and “Ki” Energy. Together, the two parts describe Reiki as “Universal Life Force Energy,” the energy that flows through all things.
How does Reiki Healing work?
An attuned practitioner is trained in channeling Reiki (Universal Life Force Energy) into clients’ non-physical bodies, in order to clear energetic blockages. In other words, Reiki is send to areas to cleanse your energy and aura.
How can I prepare for my Reiki healing?
If you are at home receiving a distant Reiki healing, make sure that you have a comfortable and quiet space to lay down, as well as strong internet connection.
In-person Reiki sessions are typically conducted with the client laying on a massage bed or yoga mat. If you are unable to lay on your back, you may chose to lay in a different position or sit. Comfort is key in healing sessions - do what works for you.
For all Reiki healings (distant or in-person), it is recommended to avoid stimulating substances (caffeine included) at least 24 hours before the session. Drink lots of water before and after your session to help your body help the physical cleansing process.
What can I expect in a Reiki Healing session?
Every practitioner will develop their own style over time. In my sessions I will ask you to lay down/ sit comfortably with your eyes closed. I will guide you in a brief mediation to help you get into a deeper headspace. I continue the session by opening your aura (non-physical body), scanning your chakras (energetic centres) for blockages, and using hands-on and distant hand positions to channel Reiki.
You may experience: hot and cold sensations, tingling, sudden twitches (energetic releases), falling into a deep sleep, visualizations and/ or colours, deep emotional releases, a general feeling of relaxation.
What does Reiki help with?
For general spiritual and physical maintenance, Reiki helps with managing stress levels and reaching a deeper sense of relaxation. This helps the body promote self-healing mechanisms that are otherwise slowed down with stress.
Other things Reiki has been observed to help with: finding and healing the root of energetic blockages, releasing and processing emotions, releasing stored trauma, deepening mediation practice, boosting the effectiveness of other healing modalities, digestion issues, dermatitis and eczema, anxiety, depression.
Do I have to bring anything to my session?
No, nothing is absolutely needed asides from yourself. If you’re having a distant Reiki healing, then you should have everything you need to make yourself comfortable at home. If you are coming to my space for an in-person session, I would suggest bringing anything that would make you feel more comfortable, safe, and supported (like your own pillow or blanket).
How does distant Reiki work?
Universal Life Force Energy transcends physical limitations of space and time. There are steps taken by a practitioner to practice Reiki remotely/ at a far distance. This includes certain preparations and symbols that are drawn, to make an energetic connection possible between the practitioner and client. Reiki can be used with or without internet, but to provide you with a personal experience, I encourage folx to connect with me via video (Zoom).
Can anyone "do" Reiki?
Anyone can learn about Reiki, however a level of dedication and study must be committed to the path, before practicing Reiki on others.
Can I learn Reiki online?
It depends on who you ask. There are governing institutions that argue against online learning, but that's mainly because there are so many courses that don't teach the proper fundamentals and materials. In my experience, online learning can help folx learn wherever they are, whenever, at their own pace. This is why I offer a part of Reiki Study online. This is not to be mistaken though, the coursework I have put together is more intensive than any online course you will find. I challenge and guide you to
Learning Reiki is more about (re)learning a way of life and thinking, rather than just learning a skill. This is why I teach Reiki over a minimum 3-month period, with extensive coaching and guidance. Attunements are typically done in-person (at my space in Toronto). An in-person Attunement is recommended for anyone looking to get certified and approved by a governing board/ institution. If you are able to see me at my space for a that in-person experience, then I am happy to have you. Otherwise, online learning can be just as intentional and powerful.
If you are browsing elsewhere for your learning, I would be wary of any 1-day or 3-day quick fix. Look for a teacher that you can build a long-term relationship with; one that will support you on your journey.
What are Attunements and how are they performed?
A Reiki Attunement is a spiritual passage where the ability to channel Reiki is passed on from Teacher to student. Symbols are drawn into the student’s aura and the Reiki rites are stated to confirm the student’s dedication to the healing path.
What is Tarot?
I describe Tarot as: a communication tool used to facilitate a conversation between you and your Guides, in order to receive Higher Guidance.
The term Tarot refers to the specific card divination practice that uses Major and Minor Arcana. This is comparable to the different suits you find in a regular card deck, where each suit carries different symbolism.
Tarot vs Oracle, what’s better?
I use both Tarot and Oracle in my practice. There is no way of saying one system is better than another. The cards are only as powerful as the reader using them. They are both great Spiritual tools.
Is an in-person reading better than a video or remote reading?
The quality of an in-person reading vs a remote reading is virtually the same. What’s most important is: your intention to connect to Spirit before the reading begins, the channeled messages that you are receiving during your reading, and your reader’s ability to energetically connect to you, wherever you are.
I’ve never had a reading before, what can I expect?
If you are receiving a remote (live) reading, then I recommend you finding a comfortable and quiet space to connect with me and receive messages. Sometimes personal things (or people) come up in sessions so it is important that you receive a level of privacy that is best for you. When we start, I will walk you through a brief grounding an d meditation exercise, so that we can connect energetically (regardless of our distance) and open our space for Spirit.
Comfort and privacy is also key for those who opt-in for a pre-recorded reading.
For in-person readings, I will walk you through a brief grounding meditation as well, then proceed with our session.
What is Spirit?
A heavy question that I can try to simply answer.
Spirit refers to the Higher Guidance/ Higher Consciousness that both surrounds us and exists within us. For each person, our relationship with Spirit and how we understand or relate to Spirit can mean different things.
Communicating with Spirit can mean communicating with: God/dess or Godex, particular deities in your Spiritual practice, your Ancestors, loved ones that have passed on, familiars, Spirit Guides, Archangels, Guardian Angels. The ways we name and identify Spirit is as diverse as our human experiences.

If this is not the best time for you financially, I understand how tough it can be to access the support and resources you need. Contact me and we can try to figure out the best resources for you at this time.
What is PWYC?
PWYC stands for pay-what-you-can. To learn more about our options visit this page.
How does energy-exchange work?
Energy-exchange is a trade of service or goods of equal value. Visit this page to find out if energy-exchange is right for you.
How do I find a practitioner that is right for me?
I would ask your practitioner any and all questions you have! The right practitioner would help you understand if you are the right fit to work together. It took me a while till I aligned with my practitioners and teachers, so it’s ok if you need some time to explore what (and who) works for you.
There are governing boards and memberships that try to standardize the teaching of healing, but in my opinion, nothing is better than listening to your intuition and finding someone that you can trust. Some things you might want to ask:
Do they have a lineage or history in what they practice?
What are their beliefs?
Who are their teachers and how did they learn?
What are their values in inclusivity?
How do they give back to their community?
Is the amount they are charging, equal to the support they are providing?
Are you psychic?
I prefer to call myself an Intuitive. The word psychic can have a lot of negative connotations (and attached BS, if you ask me) so please refer to me as an Intuitive. This means that I am gifted with different levels of clairaudience, clairvoyance, claircongizance, and clairsentience, and I continue to sharpen these skills in my own practices.
