About the Event

Slow Flow Fundraiser for The Philippines

On November 1st, Super Typhoon Goni (locally known as Typhoon Rolly), the strongest storm of the year, made landfall on Catanduanes Island (in the Bicol Region of Luzon). It is estimated that "up to 90 percent of buildings were destroyed. Though the national capital, Manila, was largely spared, the storm destroyed tens of thousands of homes on the island, displaced more than 300,000 people, and killed at least 20 people." (Reference: https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/147476/devastating-storm-hits-the-philippines)

On November 11th, Typhoon Vamco (locally known as Typhoon Ulysses) made landfall in Patnanungan, Quezon and travelled west to Luzon, an area already ravaged by flooding (Reference: https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/147525/vamco-thrashes-the-philippines). According to the United Nations’ humanitarian office, " flooding has now affected eight regions and three million people, As many as 70 have already been killed. Many of the deaths occurred in the low-lying suburbs of Cainta and Rizal, east of Manila, the capital." (Reference: https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/12/asia/typhoon-vamco-philippines-intl/index.html)

The dire situation as a result of back-to-back typhoons during a deadly pandemic is unimaginable.

What we can do to help:

Slow Flow Fundraiser for The Philippines is a heartfelt offering by Tasha Jade @dailymagicshop, Holistic Healer and Educator and Stefanie Rico @stefanieannerico Psychotherapist and Yoga Teacher, to raise money for relief efforts.

100% of proceeds will be given to on the ground efforts led by Pia Cortez. Her team is not affiliated with an organization but a group of concerned citizens delivering goods and essentials (food, water, tarps, etc.) as fast as possible. Follow her on Instagram to see their real-time relief efforts thus far @piacortez. Posted November 15, 2020 by @piacortez:

"to date, we’ve been able to bring goods to 600 families in marikina and rizal collectively, and we’re discovering that residential areas are not seeing a lot of help because evacuation centers are prioritized. kasiglahan village in montalban, rizal could break your heart but we are determined to go back and reach even more far-flung areas."

What to expect: YOGA CLASS & TAROT READING

We begin with Stefanie leading a 45-minute yoga class. Her yoga classes can be described as 'slow flow' vinyasa, leading with the appreciation of moving with intention and connecting to your intuition. Give yourself space and time to align with your breath through sun salutations, develop your balance, coordination, and flexibility. Options for postures are offered throughout; class is suitable for all levels.

After mindful movement, Tasha Jade will facilitate a Tarot Card reading, drawing on the energies of the group and sharing inspired messages as we move forward.

Both Stefanie and Tasha will be available to answer any questions after the event. They love connecting with community and are here to hold space for you.

Who we are:

Tasha Jade (https://www.dailymagic.ca/) and Stefanie Rico (https://stefanieannerico.com) have their own unique paths that led them to co-found Kapwa Sanctuary, a monthly New Moon gathering for Filipinx Sacred Space and learning. This virtual space to cultivate healing, joy, and share knowledge has grown into a magical, intimate community. This experience has affirmed for them the power of co-created space, and they are dedicated to continue offering events in the spirit of Kapwa.
