About the Event

WHAT IS KAPWA?

“Kapwa is a recognition of a shared identity, an inner self, shared with others [...] implied in such inclusiveness is the moral obligation to treat one another as equal fellow human beings.” — Professor Virgilio Enriquez, founder of Sikolohiyang Pilipino.

WHAT IS KAPWA SANCTUARY?

A monthly gathering of Filipino/a/x/ folx with the intention of community, co-creation and healing in Sacred Space.

COLLECTIVE HEALING

This February we're setting up our altars, bathing ourselves in sound and coconut oil and rediscovering what it means to take care of ourselves and each other.

WHAT TO EXPECT

👁 Learn Astro Insights for the New Moon in Aquarius: What is your relationship to freedom? How does being in community support your liberation?

👁 Practice Trauma-Informed Yoga: How does your body speak to you? How do you speak to your body?

👁 Connect in heart-centred and honest discussion: What does it mean to be on this decolonization journey? How can we support each other?

👁 Live music & collective tarot reading to support you on your journey

Kapwa Sanctuary is a dream realized by two Filipinx who longed for a space that centered on a community that together explored decolonization with compassion and curiosity. We're humbled and inspired by this community that has connected Kapwa from California to the United Kingdom to the east and west coasts of Canada!! We can't wait to share space with you.

SHARE KNOWLEDGE AMONGST KAPWA

Our gatherings are a co-created space, so if there is something you’d like to offer to the community (a poem, song, book excerpt, service, etc) DM or email either of us!

RSVP TO CONFIRM YOUR SPOT

Our gatherings are a co-created space and community members are welcomed to use this platform to share creative expressions (a poem, song, book excerpt, service, etc - kindly inform us 48 hours before our gathering).

FOR WHO? For all Filipino/a/x folx who seek a deeper connection to themselves and ancestral roots.
